A clients story - Ross Honey

Websites websites websites..........where on earth do you go to get your site built?

There are thousands of companies offering a range of services and promises to match that they can build you that "perfect site" and..Oh yes for a great price. Having had a few challenges with the developers of our website and through total frustration of not being able to be able to make any of the changes to our site without going to them and then in turn getting a bill for the privilege I set about looking for an alternative.

I looked at my computer screen and thought  "great I am right back where I started"...... so I set about looking at a selection of options  and came across something called Joomla.  I looked at a few more sites that referenced Joomla reading that it was an "Open source" and that it was a very powerful product with a wide range of applications and components.... It really caught my attention and I delved deeper.

It certainly looked like it could do what I wanted it to do so I continued hitting my keyboard at high speed with my one finger typing looking to see how I could talk to a real human being about what I was looking for. I came up with a random list and found a telephone number....brilliant. By this time my fingers were sore so I was pleased to give them a rest. The person on the other end of the telephone listened to what I was saying and replied in a calm confident voice "that’s not a problem why don’t you have a look at this" I was directed to a site and then onto another one and another. Each site providing examples of different components that we were discussing. At the end of the conversation I had been impressed with what I had seen.

Then came  "I can set up a demo site for you so that you can have a play with it and see how easy it is to use".

I must immediately point that my knowledge of computers extends to turning it on and then if it stops working then I am stuck. So this was a step into the unknown. To my surprise having played with the demo site that I had been given access to I was able to do a lot more that I had ever thought possible. Helpful conversations took place over the following two weeks with a "nothing is a problem response we are here to help" That was it I was convinced and agreed to push the button. So the totally random call that had been made to a website developer changed my business. In a very short time the site started to come alive with all of the things that we had discussed being integrated and in the process I have become a committed supporter of Joomla.

Oh..... By the way the call that was made by me was answered by Marcus Stafford from Wintercorn web design, strategy management and the sites that he built for us are www.worldcarpclassic.com and www.internationalpairs.com

A big thank you to Marcus and Keri and all of you at Joomla, keep up the great work.
