ShieldWe've always said that using HTTPS for all of your website pages and not just checkout pages is a good idea. It encrypts all of the data, gives users that warm, safe feeling and marks your site out as willing to go the extra mile for them. Good marketing in other words.
It seems that Google will soon be taking HTTPS into account when indexing sites. They admit that HTTPS' weight in ranking sites is somewhat low at the moment; high-quality content is still the most important factor. However, the company does say that in time, it might choose to increase the effectiveness HTTPS has on ranking.

Google Developers - PageSpeedPageSpeed speeds up your Joomla! or Wordpress site and reduces page load time. This webserver module automatically applies web performance best practices to pages and associated assets like CSS, JavaScript and images.
Each optimisation is implemented as a custom filter in PageSpeed, which is executed when the server serves the website assets. Some filters simply alter the HTML content, and other filters change references to CSS, JavaScript, or images to point to more optimised versions. It generally means a quicker load which in turn means it's more likely to be rated higher by search engines.

AlertThere's a new spam email going around asking for payment dates for an attached invoice. The PDF invoice contains a variety of viruses, malware and ransomware so please don't open it and you should delete the email upon receipt.

Double clicking on the attachment will result in the installation of the Gameover malware with the Necurs rootkit, as well as ransomware, an expert said, adding that the proper use of the English language in the body of the email makes the phish a bit tougher to spot.

Internet ExplorerThe U.S. and UK governments on Monday advised computer users to consider using alternatives to Microsoft Corp's Internet Explorer browser until the company fixes a security flaw that hackers used to launch attacks.

The Internet Explorer bug, disclosed over the weekend, is the first high-profile computer threat to emerge since Microsoft stopped providing security updates for Windows XP earlier this month.
